The Creative Mini Project: Telling Our Stories, Our Way

On June 30th, YAC member embarked on a new journey, one that is open-ended and filled with opportunity. It is a way for them to express ourselves through any creative medium they choose. Art, poems, playlist, letters, photos, short stories, voice notes--anything that speaks to who they are, what they've been through, or how they see the world.

Big things start with bold ideas. Youth Voice. Creative Power. Real change in motion.

How It Came to Life

The idea came from a simple question that I kept thinking about: What would it look like to document this summer--not through numbers or reports, but through creativity and emotion?

As YAC leaders, we're often focused on action, planning, and impact. That matter, absolutely. But sometimes the deepest impact comes from the quiet reflections. The messy sketch, the half-finsihed poem, the thing you made just for you. I wanted to create a space for that.

So I decided to collect these personal pieces and bring them together in a Creative Summer Magazine--a compilation of youth voices, truths, and creativity. But this project isn't just about the final product--it's the process of reconnecting with yourself through creation.

Why It Matters

Too often, young people are told how to share their stories--what to say, what not to say, what's "professional" or "relavant." This project flips that. You get to decide what matters, what's worth creating, and what you want to share (or keep for yourself)

Creatvity can be healing. It can be resistance. It can be freedom.
